Mobility, from a PC point of view!

by Adel Al Zubeir, under How to, Review, Uncategorized

Let’s be honest shall we? The Apple iPad is a cool gadget; it is very good for the simple stuff that can be difficult to do on a mobile. However, it is expensive & not a real PC! So I went out looking for a tablet PC and lucky me my office had a spare one, l asked for it and took it :D

I was very happy in the first few hours, using the stylus on Windows Vista and navigating through the internet. Few hours later, I decided to install Windows 7, the installation was smooth and it automatically found all of my hardware and drivers.

Few days later, I was very annoyed because the device is not optimized for touch! In Internet Explorer you cannot grab the page and move it to scroll like on a mobile device. I always had to use the scroll bar which is annoying. The buttons were small for finger usage.

After few hours of search, I was able to optimize my tablet for touch. And here is what I have done.

IT is The Best Job in the World Contest

by Adel Al Zubeir, under Uncategorized

9583-MSCom-(480x325)

You surely have seen it on TV – some people really think that sitting on a boring island and blogging about clouds going by is “the best job in the world” (not to mention the risk of being bitten by a jelly fish).

Here at Microsoft however, we are absolutely sure that IT is the best job in the world. And to prove that, we are organizing a boring 3-day seminar on an IT-related topic. But, we can bet that IT people attending this seminar will be really, really thrilled. Why? Because IT is “the best job in the world!” Oh, and did I forget to mention that the seminar will take place this May on the island of Mauritius! Flights and hotels will be arranged by Microsoft for truly IT people.

So, if you are an IT specialist (doesn’t matter if you do development or administration, Microsoft, Linux, Cisco, PHP or Silverlight), you are invited!

Check out http://www.microsoft.com/middleeast/enterisland to learn everything about the “Enter Island” competition!

The new Windows Phone : Windows Phone 7 Series

by Adel Al Zubeir, under Uncategorized, Windows Mobile 7, Windows Phone

Microsoft is really doing their best to prevent any one to know about their new Windows Mobile platform. Fortunately, the Spy cameras of Engadget cought the new name of the great platform, “Windows Phone 7 Series“.

I think that 7 doesn’t surprise anyone, but the “Series” surprise me. Does this indicate more than 2 flavors of Windows Mobile 7? will there be different types like the normal Desktop version of Windows 7 (Personal, Professional, Business & Ultimate Maybe?)?

So what we will see on Monday? let’s wait and see.

Tell us what you think!
